Liams Last Post : Better day , C&C ok ..ish , banks volatile , Aer Lingus trades back

Good Afternoon ,

Brighter markets today ,  Key economic statistic today was the initial Jobless claims in the USA which came in a 521k vs thesurvey expectation of 540k.

The Bank of England and the ECB both held rates also which was no surprise but was received well by the markets too.

C&C was the big story today,  Guidance unchanged but a more circumspect tone to the outlook. Stock reacted poorly initially to the news of the more challenging trading in the last month. The Conference call which lasted longer than life itself was ceived better an the stock climbed off the lows to only finish down -2.7% against a backdrop of better prices.

The Irish Banks were nervous and volatile as the market began to focus on the possible outcoes from the Green party vote on NAMA this coming the weekend.

The construction stocks were a bit better perhaps helped by the pull back in Sterling today.

Aer  Lingus dropped back to the 72c level… has to be interesting here as a trade though the Union noises are putting off the faint hearted…
